MobiLab in Rastatt

MobiLab comes to Rastatt on April 25 and 26 - Scientists invite you to a dialog

The Upper Rhine Graben holds great potential for geothermal energy, which can make an important contribution to the urgently needed expansion of renewable energies. On April 25 and 26, the MobiLab will be making a stop at the Kulturplatz in Rastatt to demonstrate areas of application for deep geothermal energy and discuss the opportunities and risks. Interested members of the public will also be given the opportunity to express their own wishes, ideas and concerns. The scientists from the Institute of Applied Geosciences (AGW), Institute for Nuclear Waste Disposal (INE), Institute for Technology Assessment and Systems Analysis (ITAS) and the KIT-Center Humans and Technology (MuT) will have a wealth of information, opportunities for participation and visual aids, including seismographs and a drill head. Children and young people are also welcome to learn interesting facts about geothermal energy in a fun way at various stations in and around the MobiLab.

The MobiLab will be accompanied by an information stand from Energieagenturen Mittelbaden, where the topics of regional heat transition and heating networks will be presented.

The MobiLab is being used at the invitation of the Upper Rhine Conference, whose executive committee is meeting at the same time in the Rastatt district administration office. The conference is a platform for Franco-German-Swiss cooperation at regional level. It deals with cross-border issues that are important for jointly shaping a future worth living in the Upper Rhine region. This cooperation between science and practice in the region is supported by the tri-national university network "Eucor - the European Campus".

The MobiLab will be open to the public on April 25th from 9 am to 6 pm and on April 26th from 8:30 am to 2 pm at Schlossplatz 5 in 76437 Rastatt to give people the opportunity to discuss hopes and fears, ideas and questions about geothermal energy with scientists.
